Arthur Smith had a memorable freshman season between the pipes at Princeton University.
Brought in to back up returning starting goaltender Ethan Pearson, Smith (Farmington, Conn.) was pressed into service early on after Pearson was injured, and he saw the lion’s share of the work in the Tigers cage early on.
Smith finished the season with a 7-7-2 record, one shutout and a 2.97 goals-against average. He won a ECAC Goaltender of the Month Award for a Princeton team that lost to Harvard in the first round of the ECAC tournament.
“He showed a lot of potential, and came into his own,” said Princeton head coach Ron Fogarty of Smith’s play in juniors.
“He got an opportunity more quickly, with the injury to Pearson. He’s growth-minded, and has a thirst for information and to get better.”
