It’s been a slow start for Sacred Heart hockey, but the Pioneers can take comfort in knowing that freshman Marc Johnstone is a promising playmaker.
Right away, Johnstone, a native of Cranford, N.J., has given a huge boost to Sacred Heart. His 11 points on three goals and eight assists lead both the Pioneers and Atlantic Hockey freshmen.
When Johnstone plays well, it typically results in a team victory. The forward totaled three assists in a 6-4 win over No. 4 Notre Dame on Oct. 19. Then, in a 6-2 win vs. Canisius on Nov. 4, Johnstone scored a beautiful breakaway goal that made the NCAA Top 10 Plays of the Week.
