Pittsford Hockey’s ninth Pink the Rink event on Jan. 27 at RIT’s Gene Polisseni Center benefitted breast cancer awareness and again was a rousing success. Celeste Frohm of Friends of Pittsford Hockey, Inc., chairperson of Pink the Rink, said more than a thousand tickets were sold for the games.
Foam pucks were sold for the chuck-a-puck contest, with three great prizes awarded. Barker Road student Olivia Norten sang the national anthem before the JV game, and Mendon High School student Shannon Beel sang the anthem before the varsity game. There was DJ music, PA announcing by Mike Donner of Mendon, and the RIT pep band joined in the festivities.
