The NHL Draft is only a few months away, set to take place June 28 and 29. It will be held at the new Sphere in Las Vegas. It will be a spectacle.
On the first night, however, it’s doubtful any players from New York or New Jersey will cross the stage, as it’s somewhat of a down year for local prospects.
Last June, the last time we released a local 2024 NHL Draft prospect ranking, Drew DellaSalla (Rye, N.Y.) led the way as a potential first-round pick. But on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings, the former Brunswick standout was tabbed as a fourth-round candidate.
Instead, someone else from the New York and New Jersey area rose to the top. While this player isn’t considered a first-round pick, he’s a prospect trending in the right direction.
