It's back to work for the boys varsity hockey program at Trinity-Pawling School.
Last year’s squad at the independent prep school situated 60 miles north of New York City finished 7-15-2 and is seeking to return to its winning ways this season.
“One thing last year, at the beginning of the year, we had some key injuries to returning players,” said head coach Robert Ferraris, himself a 1993 Trinity-Pawling graduate who also serves as the school’s director of financial aid. “We had three of our top six scorers out the first month, month-and-a-half of the season.
“In prep school, it takes some time to get used to, and to start producing offensively.”
Trinity-Pawling’s top returning scorer from 2022-23, forward Tanner Duncan (Ridgefield, Conn.), would agree.
“For new guys coming out of AAA, it’s a totally different style,” said Duncan regarding prep hockey. “It’s hard to produce points. I had to change my play after the (holiday) break, to take more shots and produce more.”
