The New Jersey Devils announced that they have signed forward Tyce Thomspon to a two-year, entry-level deal on Wednesday, signaling the end of his collegiate career.
Thompson, who was born in Oyster Bay, N.Y., and grew up in Milford, Conn., was drafted 96th overall by the Devils in the 2019 NHL Draft. He spent the last three seasons with the Providence College Friars in Hockey East.
The deal, which comes just a week after the Friars' season came to an end in the Hockey East quarterfinals, will begin with the 2020-21 season, the Devils said. Thompson, a 21-year-old right-shot winger, has already reported to New Jersey to begin his necessary quarantine.
